Balticconnector finishes offshore pipelaying works
Balticconnector completed offshore pipeline installation in the Gulf of Finland on 24 June 2019.
The operations on this stage of the project began on 20 May 2019 and lasted only 1 month with the works finished before the scheduled date.
This step included offshore pipelaying works across the Gulf of Finland from Finnish to Estonian coast and connection of the two ends of the pipeline in the middle. Pipeline installation was completed by 14 June 2019, and connection was finished on 24 June 2019.
Project Director Tom Främling marks that offshore pipelaying works are the biggest part of the project. The next stage of the project implementation is shielding works which are being carried out simultaneously with pipelaying. Shielding works are expected to be finished in July, and in July-August Balticconnector will run pressure test. According to the plan, the connection of the offshore and onshore segments of the pipeline will be carried out in autumn after the pipeline being emptied and dried.
By now project goes as planned and Balticconnector expects to put the pipeline into operation by the end of 2019. You can discuss this and other cross-countries pipeline projects during the plenary session at the Transportation Oil and Gas Congress 2020.
