On February 20-22, we were pleased to welcome 250+ O&G pipeline leaders at the Transportation Oil and Gas Congress 2023 in the wonderful city of Istanbul. We were honoured to have BOTAŞ, a key international player in O&G transportation, as the Hosting Company of the event. More than 100 companies including TANAP, Bonatti, Energinet, Equinor, GIE, McDermott UK and many more gathered to share game-changing solutions and technological strategies that will lead the way for the future development of the O&G pipeline sector. Key highlights of TOGC 2023
Together with BOTAŞ, we invited our delegates to join the special Day 3 of TOGC and visit the Silivri Underground Natural Gas Storage Facility - the largest storage facility in Europe. Our delegates enjoyed Q&A with BOTAŞ site technicians and took a look at the infrastructure of the facility site, control room, and even a brand new wind turbine that was built by BOTAŞ to supply electricity for the facility. Thank you to BOTAŞ for supporting the Congress and making this incredible 3rd Day possible.
This year, the TOGC 2023 participants had a unique chance to experience no tie networking in the elegant atmosphere of a Gala Dinner cruise. The sea trip along the Bosphorus Strait offered a charming view of the night-time Istanbul and its breathtaking landmarks: Dolmabahce Palace, Ciragan Palace, Ortakoy Mosque, Rumeli Fortress, and more.
Accelerating innovation in O&G pipeline through partnership
This year we organised 200+ B2B meetings that helped establish grounds for new deals to successfully drive the O&G pipeline market forward. With 30+ leading service providers presenting their cutting-edge innovations in the centre of the Congress, TOGC 2023 Exhibition featured everything from valves, insulation, and hydraulic presses to cutting-edge software solutions and monitoring systems.
The business programme of TOGC 2023 was packed with sessions covering an extensive range of trending topics: hydrogen in gas grid, pipeline economics and integrity, pipeline security, digital transformation, sustainability, and more.
Let’s look back at 4 amazing TOGC 2023 presentations where O&G pipeline professionals share their progressive vision on the future of the market:
TANAP - enabling digitalization of pipeline operation
The presentation by Ali İpek, Lead Integrity Engineer atTANAP Natural Gas Transmission, became a catalyst for discussion about the challenges of pipeline project execution at the TOGC 2023 Opening Panel. He provided a thorough look into the TANAP project that carries out the operational period more intelligently and efficiently with the digital technologies developed based on it, thanks to the high value-added data.
AquaDuctus - the starting point for Northwest European hydrogen backbone
Hydrogen is currently being explored as a global low carbon fuel commodity to displace fossil fuel consumption and decarbonize the transportation sector. What is the secret to successful H2 transition and how can the energy sector overcome the challenges of this process?
During TOGC Panel 2 “H2 in Gas Grid: initiatives and forecasts” Dr. Christoph von dem Bussche, Managing Director at GASCADE Gastransport, presented the AquaDuctus project. It is a part of the AquaVentus initiative, which plans to install 10 gigawatts of electrolysis capacity for hydrogen production from offshore wind power between the archipelago Helgoland and sandbank Doggerbank in the North Sea.
Pipeline digital monitoring allows the O&G industry to redefine its boundaries
Digitalisation has large-scale, long-term effects throughout the O&G industry, with emerging technical solutions offering ways to reshape the operating landscape and reap the benefits of improved productivity.
At TOGC Panel 5 “Digital Transformation and Optimization: trends and technologies” Giuseppe Giunta, Technical Authority Manager at Eni, spoke about the design, implementation and testing of a data-driven machine learning approach to obtain smart relationships, by processing long term vibroacoustic data digitally recorded along the pipelines.
AIMI Project - building a highly automated, integrated workflow
One of the highlights of Session 4 “Pipeline security: old and new risks” was the presentation by Andreas Müller, Project Manager at Thyssengas, where he described the company's project AIMI - “Aerial Intelligence for Monitoring of Infrastructures”, in which the foundation was laid for the development of AI-based pipeline monitoring.
TOGC 2023 - our hearts go out to all those affected by the disaster in Turkiye
It is with heavy hearts that we gathered this year in light of the tragic earthquake that struck Turkiye. In such difficult times, the people of Turkiye came together in solidarity and compassion, to help those who have been affected by the disaster. Their courage and stoutheartedness is inspiring, and it serves as a reminder for us all to always stay strong and never give up hope.
We believe that TOGC 2023 was an opportunity to unite, and to move forward with hope and understanding towards a better future.
We are immensely grateful to all sponsors and partners of TOGC 2023 for their help in promoting collaboration among O&G pipeline professionals all over the world. A big thank you to our Principal, Diamond, and Platinum Sponsors: AVEVA, Waterfall Security Solutions and TOSCELIK.
Preparation for the next edition of the Congress is already underway. We can’t wait to see you next year - the registration for TOGC 2024 is already open! Learn more
